I’m excited about food this week, thinking about the fabulous restaurant events going on in the next few days. And some oldies but goodies this week on music and film fronts. Check it out!

Progressive Dinner at Varanese, Volare and Bourbon’s Bistro

Varanese, Volare and Bourbon’s Bistro will be hosting a progressive dinner on Tuesday night. This meal is limited to only 50 diners, with reservations between 5 pm-7 pm. Diners can come and go as they please from course to course. Volare will provide appetizers, Varanese will provide entrees and Bourbon’s Bistro will provide desserts. Dinner is $50 per person, which includes tax and gratuity, but not alcohol. To make reservations, call Volare at 502-894-4446.

Chicago Chef Paul Virant Dining Event at the Brown Hotel

Chef Paul Virant.

Michelin-starred chef Paul Virant of Chicago will be at the Brown Hotel to celebrate his new cookbook, The Preservation Kitchen: The Craft of Making and Cooking with Pickles, Preserves, and Aigre-doux. This book shows traditional canning methods in new ways. Virant will join The Brown Hotel’s executive chef Laurent Géroli for the one-night-only dining event. Guests will meet the chef and cookbook author at an opening reception at 7 pm, then enjoy a four-course meal with paired wines. Dinner is $65 per person plus tax and gratuity. Carmichael’s Booksellers will be on hand to sell copies of The Preservation Kitchen, which chef Virant can personalize.
