Today’s post is from SB Birmingham Editor Catherine Romero:
Whether you’re a Daniel Boone or a Dick Cheney, an Annie Oakley or the Greek goddess Artemis, after the thrill of the hunt back at the lodge when the adrenalin has died down, a recap of the day’s events over a stiff drink is in order. This ritual warrants just the right cocktail, so today we bring you a Hunter and Huntress libation that will warm you up from the inside out, whether you are emerging from a day in the woods, or laying down your spear on a Friday night after a long work week!
The Hunter’s version is super simple. Start with an old-fashioned glass filled with ice. Add in whiskey and cherry brandy. Garnish with a maraschino cherry.
The Hunter Cocktail
- 1 1/2 oz whiskey
- 1/2 oz cherry brandy
- maraschino cherries for garnish
- Pour the whiskey and cherry brandy into an old-fashioned glass with ice.
- Stir well.
- Garnish with a maraschino cherry or two.
For the female hunter whose been trekking through the fields in the cool autumn air, this cocktail will take the chill out of her bones.
